Meet Cati

Cati Hamilton, AMFT

Supervised by Licensed Therapist Lynnea Molina, LCSW #81451

Who I am as a Therapist.

My approach is person-centered (i.e. Therapy is focused on you—your pace, your experiences, and what feels right for your life), creating a space that feels steady, grounded, and real. I offer room for you to move at your own pace, with support and guidance when it’s helpful.

I work also work with trauma, grief, anxiety, life transitions, and complicated relational experiences. Therapy with me is collaborative and centered on helping you make sense of your experiences in your own way, without pressure or urgency. I tend to work well with people who are open to understanding themselves more deeply, even if they’re unsure where to begin.

I have over 10 years of experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, including supporting those navigating trauma, sexuality, gender, and the impact of adverse religious or spiritual experiences and high-control environments.

Therapy with Me Is…

Collaborative, grounded, and paced in a way that feels supportive—not overwhelming.

I use a person-centered approach alongside EMDR, as well as somatic and attachment-based approaches. Together, we’ll explore what brought you to therapy and begin to understand how your experiences are held in your mind and body, shaping your emotions, patterns, and relationships.

While I am not a certified psychedelic therapist and do not provide psychedelic-assisted therapy, I support clients in making meaning of those experiences—whether your journey has ended or is ongoing. I also support clients who are exploring or looking for support with post journey integration.

You can expect a space that is:

  • Steady, compassionate, and nonjudgmental

  • Focused on both insight and felt experience

  • Supportive of growth that feels meaningful and sustainable

  • Open to your identity, values, and lived experience

The Clients I Connect Best With.

  • Individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community

  • Those who are recovering from, questioning, currently engaged in, or formerly connected to religious or spiritual practices

  • Individuals wanting to explore, understand, or work through trauma related to religion, spirituality, or high-control environments

  • Individuals who are using psychedelics or engaging in plant medicine—on their own, with a guide, or in another setting—and are looking for support in understanding, processing, or integrating those experiences

My Core Areas Are…

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Trauma related to religion and spirituality

  • Grief and loss

  • Anxiety

  • Life transitions

  • Complicated relational experiences

  • Identity exploration, including sexuality, gender, and belonging

What You Might Experience During Treatment with Me…

Drop into a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where your experiences, identity, and community are honored. Together, we explore challenges, recognize your strengths, and support growth that aligns with your values. Virtual and in-person sessions are available across California.

In our initial sessions, we’ll explore what’s coming up for you and create a plan that supports your pace and goals. Early work often focuses on building safety, clarity, and a strong therapeutic relationship, while also helping you understand patterns and responses that may feel confusing or overwhelming.

Together, we may:

  • Explore your experiences and what’s been difficult to name

  • Build awareness of how your nervous system responds to stress and connection

  • Develop tools that support grounding and regulation

  • Begin processing experiences using EMDR and other integrative approaches when appropriate

As therapy deepens, many clients begin to feel:

  • More grounded and less overwhelmed

  • More connected to themselves and others

  • Greater clarity around patterns and relationships

  • Increased trust in their own internal experience

Additional Trainings

In recent years, I’ve pursued additional specialized training to deepen my clinical work. This includes:

  • EMDR Basic Training through Coast to Coast

  • Integrative Somatic Practitioner training with the Integrative Psychology Institute

  • Foundational training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Structural Family Therapy

  • Multiple trainings through the Religious Trauma Institute

I am currently enrolled in Psychedelic Therapy Level I Certification through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute to support clients in integrating psychedelic and other expanded states of consciousness.

Beyond My Clinical Work…

I began my career in chaplaincy and spiritual care, which continues to shape how I understand healing. I’m especially influenced by liberation-based approaches that view healing as both personal and collective.

Outside of the therapy room, I love spending time outdoors—I once completed a 500-mile hike across Spain.
